The Hastings YMCA will be holding a Parents Night Out. Drop your kids off at the YMCA and enjoy an evening out. Children ages 1-10 years from 4PM to 8PM. The cost is $15 per child for YMCA Members and $20 for Non-Members. Youth will enjoy a theme filled evening of games, art projects, movies, swimming(ages 5+) and More! Hastings reads event at the YMCA the event is for families with children in elementary school. Pat Bauer and David Geister are not only the author and illustrator of B is for Battle cry, they are also living-history actors. You do not need to be a member of the YMCA, and no registration is required.

The American Red Cross will be hosting a Blood Drive from 8:00AM to 1:00PM at the Caribou Coffee 14638 Cedar Avenue in Apple Valley.
There will be an event, "Connecting Through Stories" on Saturday, February 25th from 11 a.m.-noon at Schaar's Bluff Gathering Center, Spring Lake Park Reserve. This free event for all ages will explore African American history and culture through stories, music, and your imagination with artists Danielle Daniel and Alphonse Bolden, Sr.

Hastings reads event Almost to freedom will be taking place at the Steppingstone Theatre at 1:30 PM. Families with children in grades 2-8 are invited to attend the play Almost to Freedom. Tickets include bus transportation and the cost is $12.

Thursday, March 1st
The Dakota County Sheriff's office will be hosting an eight week "Citizen Academy". This is an educational program designed to learn more about law enforcement. The academy will be held on eight consecutive Thursdays, beginning March 1st and concluding April 19th. Each session will run from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
The American Cancer will bring a welcome touch of Spring to the area during the week of March 12th. This is the week of its annual Daffodil Days celebration. This fundraising event brings thousands of "flowers of hope" to the area. Money raised during Daffodil Days funds national cancer research along with education and patient service programs locally. Donna Most and Julie Fiedler are representing the distribution of the daffodils in the Prescott area. You may place your order by calling 715-262-5000. The Daffodils will arrive the week of March 12, 2012.

Dakota County’s Adopt-A-Highway Program seeks volunteer groups. The Dakota County Adopt-A-Highway program is giving volunteer groups a 30 inch by 24 inch sign that prominently displays the group’s name. The Dakota County Transportation staff is looking for volunteer groups committed to cleaning up a 2-mile stretch along county highways.
