CARDINALS HAND PANTHERS SECOND LOSS: The Ellsworth Panthers Baseball Team hadn’t lost many games this season, heading into Firehall Field, last Thursday, on AM 1460 KDWA. The Panthers were 11-1, and ranked in the top 5 in Division 2, but that didn’t phase the Cardinals one bit. The Redbirds, behind a sparkling pitching performance from Junior Lefthander Brady Schommer defeated the Panthers, 1-0. The Game was played in a crisp 71 minutes, with only six hits between the two teams, some outstanding defense, and great pitching produced the formula for the quick one on Thursday. Schommer spun a complete-game four-hit shutout, walking only one batter, and striking out four in the winning effort for the Cardinals. Ellsworth Power Lefty James Georgakas also threw every inning for the Panthers, striking out six, while only allowing two hits, but a Clay Seifert RBI fielder’s choice brought home Matt Schanus, and the 1-0 win for Prescott.
